4' x 8' air pillow (aka equalizer pillow) are floated on the water surface and under the winter cover and serve several purposes. Porperly located, they make it much easier to remove winter debris and to pump off excess rainwater. As water freezes and expands, air pillows relieve pressure otherwise exerted on the pool walls.
