Pentair FNS PLUS, 60 Sq. Ft. D.E. Filter Less Valve

Price was right. Shipping was fast. Product wass to replace older FNS(not Plus). Unit is 1-inch shorter, but a piece of granite 1-inch thick placed under, raised it perfectly. The bulkheads were exactly right for my multi valve, and sliped right in easily. Took longer to get the filter out of the box than to install...about 10 minutes. Thanks PolyTec!

Shipped on a pallet by commercial trucking firm, which is highly recommended versus FedEx or UPS as our new Pentair FNSP60 arrived completely intact and undamaged. Installed quickly in place of our old Pentair/ Nautilus/ Pac-Fab NS72 filter for which parts support has been mostly discontinued by Pentair. Needless to say, confirmed before purchase that the connections were still 7.5" c/c so matched up with our existing multiport valve. Only dimensional adjustment was to insert an 18" square of cement board to account for the shorter skirt. The filter seems to be working every bit as well as the previous. In comparing the old and new operating manuals one difference noted is that the NS manual recommended backwash after 7-10 psi increase from clean whereas the new one states 10-12 psi. The new manual attempts to be helpful by stating the amount of DE to use as no. of scoops with a 1-lb coffee can, a purchase size that is rare if not non-existent in today's supermarket. Perhaps Pentair might consider including a DE scoop with their filters, perhaps molded plastic helpfully imprinted with filter sq ft and qty of scoops to use? Polytec was excellent and prompt, and their pricing was competitive. I have purchased from them before and they were extremely helpful on a previous pump purchase where we had to sort out some damage caused by UPS.
